Angel Cecena, a senior at William C. Hinkley High School in Aurora, has been selected for our December Student of the Month!
Angel has been an engaged and hard-working student from day one, but it’s these last couple of months where Angel really had a positive impact on our classroom. Angel has a very endearing personality and is a good role model– he enjoys helping his peers in the class. These past few weeks, Angel has been encouraging his fellow classmates when they are need of some extra motivation to get through finals week before winter break.
KidsTek Program Specialist Danielle BeDillon asked Angel a few interview questions to help to get to know him a little better:
DB: “What first got you interested in computers and technology?”
Angel: “I got really interested about a year ago when I was playing this game and realized that there was a way to program it to make it better. I looked up tutorials on how to make your own bot and you needed to know the programming language, C#, in order to do so. I loved learning about programming after that and understanding the lines of code that most people don’t understand.”
DB: “What do you plan on doing after you graduate?”
Angel: “I want to go to college and study programming and engineering so that I can create my own programs. After I graduate, I want to be able to make my own Google Play apps as well as apps for the iPhone.”
DB: “What are your favorite subjects in school?”
Angel: “My favorite subjects are science, math (particularly algebra) and this computer class.”
DB: “What is your favorite thing to do when you have some down time?” Angel: “When I have free time, I usually enjoy spending time on the computer and watching YouTube videos and going on Facebook. Over the summer I made this console application to solve Sudoku puzzles which was a lot of fun.”
Angel always has a smile on his face and has been a joy to have in our computer class this past semester. We look forward to a great spring semester with Angel and our other wonderful Hinkley High School students!
