We would like to highlight two of our newest Aurora instructors—Luisa Zamora and Meme Loftin. Both instructors joined our team during the holiday season and have been busy making our after school middle school programs a ton of fun for our students! Both teachers find creative and innovative ways to teach practical computer skills in engaging ways. They have incorporated music mixing, Internet scavenger hunts and coding into their lessons while integrating fundamental programs like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Luisa graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and a minor in Chicano Studies from Metropolitan State University of Denver. She has been working in educational settings for the past seven years, as her passion is working with both kids and adults in under-resourced communities. Luisa teaches at two of our middle schools in Aurora— South Middle and Aurora West College Preparatory Academy. Luisa uses her education and experience with diverse communities to bring out the best in our students.
Meme graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a minor in Public Relations. Meme teaches at two of our other Aurora middle schools— North Middle and East Middle. She discovered her passion for children at a young age, and enjoys making computers fun and accessible for kids from under-served communities. Meme starts out every class with an icebreaker or game to help the students transition from a long school day. She also uses her interests in traveling and healthy nutrition to inspire her students both on the computer and in their daily lives.
