Staff Celebration and Highlight: Katy Limes

Katy was born and raised in Colorado and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She returned to Colorado shortly after college, and applied to KidsTek.  She knew that programming and teaching were two of her biggest strengths and in her own words, “I wanted to use those two skills to help people that need it.” Katy began teaching for us in August of 2019 and has taught “Introduction to Computing” and “Introduction to Programming” at Hinkley High School and Aurora West College Preparatory Academy this school year.

Katy has many talents- relating with her students, being a great problem solver and finding the humor in tough situations- just to name a few. Katy says, “In my free time I like to program as a hobby, usually simple stuff like ‘modding’ video games. I’m currently working on building my first browser extension.”

When asked about her experience in working with KidsTek, she shared, “I like the support that I have. It feels like everyone here wants me to succeed and is willing to go out of their way to help make this a good experience for the students. I also like the kids. The high schoolers I teach are the coolest teenagers I have ever met.”

KidsTek is so glad Katy chose to join the team and is looking forward to continuing to watch the incredible work she does with our students!
