Back to School!

Back to school season is in full swing and KidsTek is gearing up for another great school year.

KidsTek’s high school programs run the gamut of tech topics from using common applications and tech tools, to learning important life skills, to Python programming and certification-level computer science classes. Having such a variety of classes to offer lets us work with each individual school to figure out what will best serve students’ needs.

“Every school and community has unique needs and KidsTek is uniquely positioned to help our partner sites find the right fit for their students,” said Andrew Bissland, KidsTek Program Director.

Currently, KidsTek is teaching at three high schools this fall semester: Hinkley High in Aurora and North High and Florence Crittenton High in Denver.

Hinkley High School students take Intro to Computer Science in the fall semester and Intro to Programming in the spring. Students there even have the opportunity to earn the IC3 Digital Literacy certification which can really help launch a future career in a variety of tech fields.

At North High School, our Business Computing class teaches skills in the Google Apps Suite, such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites. Additionally, students engage throughout the year with college and career-readiness skills such as how to ace a job interview and planning a post-high school path that will help them meet their goals.

Florence Crittenton High School students get a bit both worlds, with both Intro to Computer Science and Business Computing. At FloCrit, Business Computing students also delve into a wider variety of life skills designed to support their needs as teen parents in addition to college and career-readiness.

We’re excited to be back at school and are enjoying meeting all of our fabulous new students!
