KidsTek’s August Student of the Month is Michelle Vazquez from Florence Crittenton High School. Michelle is a senior and is currently taking KidsTek’s Life Skills class, focused on teaching important life skills such as career soft skills, financial management, housing, and more, through a technology lens.
In her free time, Michelle likes to spend time with her daughter Elizabeth. “I’ll always enjoy being a mom because my baby Elizabeth brings that tiredness away from me and she even makes me laugh and smile a lot. I just love her personality,” Michelle said. They love to do arts and crafts, paint their nails, sing and dance, or watch movies together.
Michelle is undecided about what she wants to do after high school, but she is interested in potentially opening a food service business and her priority is providing a stable home for her family.
“Even though our semester has just started, Michelle has stood out among my students already. She is such a positive and friendly person and very dedicated to success. I’m excited to have her in my class!” said Senior Instructor Emily Tow. Florence Crittenton High, like the rest of Denver Public Schools, is starting the school year with remote learning. “Remote learning makes it much harder for teachers to make meaningful connections with students, but Michelle has done a great job of staying in touch and engaging with our class,” said Tow.
Michelle said she is looking forward to learning about life skills because “I know they will help me move on forward and make my life a little easier and even show me things I’ve haven’t learned.”
Congratulations Michelle! We are so glad to have you as a part of our KidsTek family!
