Long time KidsTek student, Edmundo Gomez, is wrapping up his senior year at Martin Luther King, Jr. Early College in Denver. Edmundo has been a part of a cohort of students to whom KidsTek has been teaching Cisco computer networking classes over the past four years. Edmundo started with us as a student at another Denver school, High Tech Early College, and has been an engaged and exemplary student since we’ve know him. Edmundo explains his love of technology stating, “Ever since I was little, I had access to technology as it was advancing and changing, and that sparked an interest in me that still exists to this day.”
Edmundo’s Cisco classes are taught at Westwood College twice a week; Edmundo goes there in the afternoon after he wraps up his school day at MLK. Edmundo, and the rest of his KidsTek class, are preparing to take a Cisco certification exam, the CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) in mid-April. The CCENT certifies an individual’s ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a computer network, including basic network security. Edmundo also plans on attempting to earn another Cisco certification, the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate,) through studying for it this summer.
Edmundo plans on majoring in computer science and has applied to CU Boulder, Metro State University and CSU San Bernardino.
Good luck to Edmundo on his certification exams and college applications!
