
The number of U.S. students receiving subsidized lunches rose to 21 million last school year from 18 million in 2006-7, a 17 percent increase, according to an analysis by The New York Times of data from the Department of Agriculture. KidsTek serves the highest-need schools in Denver and Aurora: those with free and reduced lunch rates of over 70 percent. KidsTek partners with afterschool providers like Aurora COMPASS and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver who provide snack every day for their students.
