KidsTek Scholarship Awards Announced!

We have a winner! This year’s recipient of the Nancy J. Sauer Scholarship is Thu Nguyen from North High School. Additionally, a runner-up award will go to Isaac Osei from Hinkley High School.

“We are so proud of the seniors who applied this year! We had many worthy candidates and are very happy to award scholarships to our two finalists,” said Program Director Andrew Bissland.

Thu took KidsTek’s Business Computing class at North this year. She plans to attend Metro State University and looks forward to pursuing a medical career, with interest in potential paths such as becoming a general practitioner, a dermatologist, or a physician assistant.

“Thu is such a phenomenal young woman. She’s absolutely brilliant, involved in just about everything, and such a kind, hilarious presence,” said Program Manager Emily Tow. “I can’t wait to see what amazing things she accomplishes next!”

Isaac took KidsTek’s Intro to Computing and Intro to Programming class during the 2020-2021 school year and will be attending Carnegie Mellon University in the fall.

“It has been a pleasure to get to know Isaac over the past few years. He is a very smart and dedicated student and his positivity is infectious,” said Andrew. “He was able to volunteer in our after school programs this year and he had a real knack for helping our younger students with their technology projects!”

We will be honoring our scholarship winners in person during a luncheon at our annual golf tournament fundraiser event on June 8th. For more information about this event please click here.
