KidsTek Provides Tech Certification Opportunities for Students

Each year, KidsTek students who are enrolled in our “Introduction to Computing” class are able to take the IC3 Digital Literacy certification. KidsTek purchases the certification exam for students provided they are earning a high grade percentage in the class. Earning the certification proves advanced tech proficiency and can be an additional item on student resumes.

Certiport is the certifying body for the IC3, and according to their web site, this test is important because “Technology has become a part of our everyday lives, and understanding how to function in environments that require the use of computers and the internet is more critical now than ever before. Whether you plan to pursue a career in IT, or simply become more effective with technology, IC3 Digital Literacy Certification is the place to start.”

We all know that being savvy with technology is an important 21st Century skill. KidsTek’s mission is to prepare students for academic, career and personal success by increasing tech literacy at Colorado’s highest-needs schools. Our program helps to ensure “digital equity” for all Colorado students.

KidsTek instructor Katy Limes, has been prepping her students at Aurora West College Preparatory Academy and Hinkley High school in Aurora to take the IC3 Exam through her Introduction to Computers course. Katy shared that, “We provide certifications for our kids to give them a leg up in the workplace and a competitive advantage.”
