KidsTek Participates in DPS 8th Grade Career Fair
Last week, KidsTek attended Denver Public School’s 8th Grade Career Fair. We’ve attended this event annually since it first began six years ago. The fair took place at the National Western Complex where over 150 businesses and nearly 3300 students came to learn about potential careers. Career fairs such as this help students to explore their career plans for the future while also helping them plan ahead for the classes they will need to take in high school and college in order to get the careers they desire.
As part of the DPS “Personal Education Plan” process, all Denver 8th grade students prepare for this event by completing the Career Cluster Finder survey on CollegeinColorado.org to explore careers that match their interests. During the event students can learn more about a variety of careers by asking representatives from a wide variety of companies.
KidsTek was featured in the STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) section of the fair where companies like Google, Comcast, and Bit by Bit Analytics showed kids what it’s like to work in the tech field.
In less than two week, KidsTek will attend a similar 8th grade career fair in Adams County!
