This fall, KidsTek is proud to enter a new partnership with Strive Excel, one of the newest sites in the Strive Preparatory system. Strive Preparatory schools are a “Denver-based network of free, open-enrollment, public charter schools committed to providing every student with an excellent, rigorous, college-preparatory education.” Strive schools have established a reputation for serving high-needs students and achieving notable academic growth. There are currently eight schools in the Strive system, all working in partnership with Denver Public Schools. The Strive Excel school opened in the fall of 2013, and currently serves high school freshman and sophomores. Strive Excel is housed right next door to another KidsTek program site: North High School!
The students at Strive Excel all participate in Strive Lab enrichments before their first period class every day. KidsTek will now serve as one of the Strive Lab facilitators. We are thrilled to have our North High School instructor, Rob Wellington, leading our first-ever group of students at this school site.
The school has prioritized math skills, Internet research, and digital literacy for this KidsTek class, and Mr. Wellington will be teaching those focus areas through a variety of projects on the students’ Chrome notebooks. While our lab is the first class of the morning, we’re confident we can help the students wake up with engaging content on the computers. Stay tuned for more updates from our newest site in Denver!
