KidsTek Kicks Off New Program at AWCPA

KidsTek originally began with after school programs solely for elementary and middle school students.  Over the years, it has become very clear that our programs are a valuable asset to students at metro area high schools as well.  A few years after KidsTek began after school programs, we also began providing programs at the high school level.  Depending on each high school’s needs, KidsTek teaches one of three classes.

The first is referred to as “Business Computing.” This class teaches students the ins and outs of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. In addition, there is a large focus on soft skills.

The second high school class that we offer is called “Life Skills on Computers.” This class was created at Florence Crittenton High School last school year. This is a very practical class in which students learn “adulting” skills through the lens of technology.

Finally, the third type of high school class we teach is called “Intro to Computing & Intro to Programming.” For the 2019-2020 school year, KidsTek is thrilled to be adding this class at Aurora West College Prep Academy.

Katy Limes, KidsTek’s new instructor at AWCPA, is teaching this inaugural class at Aurora West as well as teaching it at Hinkley High for our eighth year at that school. Katy speaks of her first week at West: “These students are wonderfully motivated to learn and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better over the course of the year.” Katy has just begun with KidsTek, but is well on her way to helping her students master everything that is “Introduction to Computers.”
