KidsTek values our wonderful partnerships with the schools that host our computer courses. Teri Lawson, a computer teacher at Aurora’s Hinkley High School, has been a huge supporter of KidsTek during the four years we’ve been teaching college-level computer courses there.
Teri is our main point of contact at Hinkley, and graciously opens her computer lab to our program. “KidsTek has been an asset for our Hinkley students,” explains Lawson, “The classes have provided a great educational opportunity for them that they otherwise would not have had access to.”
Teri has nearly 30 years’ experience working as a computer teacher in both Denver and Aurora. She was a computer teacher at Denver’s Washington High School for 13 years. In 1993, she became the Denver Public Schools computer magnet manager, part of a nationally recognized program, where she was responsible for 32 computer classes in 9 different computer labs. This included a maintenance lab where she taught robotics and A+ tech certifications.
Teri is in her 16th year at Hinkley High School, where she has also been a college-readiness coordinator through the AVID program and taught an AVID elective course for 9 years. She has always been very helpful and accommodating to our program and has played a key role in our success at the school. Teri’s support of KidsTek is invaluable. She states, “The KidsTek program provides real world experience and the instructors have been phenomenal.”
We can’t thank Teri Lawson enough for her long-time dedication to our cause!
