KidsTek provides Aurora Central High School students with both the hardware and the skills for post-secondary opportunities through its College and Career Readiness class. This spring, KidsTek awarded 16 computers to students who completed the after-school class with instructor Annie Abramson. During the class, students explored the College in Colorado website, wrote resumes, and had mock interviews with KidsTek staff and volunteers. With the help of Kellie Soderlund, Central’s Community Partnership and Student Leadership Advisor, KidsTek targeted and recruited immigrant students, often refugees, to join the class, resulting in a linguistically diverse classroom. Ms. Abramson used visual aids and translation software to augment her lessons for those new to the English language. Congratulations to all our computer winners!
