KidsTek staff recently had the privilege of attending the annual Women in Technology Conference hosted by the Colorado Technology Association. We enjoyed an entire day of direct access to executives and community leaders. This was not only a beneficial learning experience for our female staff, but for one of our students as well.
Recent Denver North High graduate and KidsTek alumni, Janet Soto, was able to join us at the event. She was thrilled to see all the successful women in attendance. As Janet prepares to enter the workforce after college, we hope that she was inspired by the example of women in Colorado’s tech sector who were able to shatter the glass ceiling!
During the conference, a team of panelists including Nancy Phillips, CEO of ViaWest, who has earned a reputation in Colorado’s tech industry for being one of its most influential and dynamic leaders. Also on the panel was Lucy Sanders of NCWIT, the National Center for Women & Information Technology. KidsTek admires Sanders’ work in encouraging girls and women to pursue careers in IT. We often cite NCWIT’s data when addressing the need to get more female students access and success in the technology field.
It was amazing event, and we thank our friends at CTA for hosting our student and staff members.
