KidsTek is offering a three-week career exploration course during the annual Aurora Youth 4 Success program this month. This is the 7th year of the Aurora program and KidsTek is proud to have served AY4S during all seven years of its existence. The career camp is open to Aurora students in either the Aurora or Cherry Creek school districts and gives students a chance to explore different career options during summer break.
The program was founded by Colorado State Senator Nancy Todd and her husband Terry Todd, both of which are former public school teachers. KidsTek’s program track in the camp is centered on career exploration on computers. KidsTek students learn how to build a strong resume, create a cover letter, practice interviewing skills and how to search for jobs online. This course helps students to gain the knowledge necessary to not only apply for jobs while in high school, but also to prepare them for their post-high school career. At the end of the three weeks, KidsTek students are awarded with a laptop computer.
KidsTek Technology Specialist, Steve Kessler, is teaching the course for AY4S this summer which is being held at Overland High School. Former KidsTek instrcutor Nora Cox is managing the day-to-day operations on AY4S for the second year in a row, and we’re excited to be working with her again.
