KidsTek had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the 2nd Annual SIM Tank event that took place at the Galvanize entrepreneur workspace on August 19th!
The focus of the event is to promote technology innovation in Colorado with four local tech start-ups pitching to investors in a format inspired by the hit show “Shark Tank.” Also, for the second year in a row, KidsTek was a beneficiary of the event, receiving a very generous donation from SIM Tank’s fundraising efforts!
“We are so lucky to be associated with SIM Colorado and their fantastic staff and membership,” states KidsTek Executive Director, Richard Liner, “It’s amazing how the Denver community has rallied behind SIM and the SIM Tank event to provide KidsTek with some substantial funding for our high school programs.”
Clara Tran, one of KidsTek’s high school students from
High Tech Early College, gave a short speech on our behalf. Clara has been a student in KidsTek’s Cisco networking classes for over three years now and will be graduating in May 2015. Clara’s anticipated major is computer engineering and credits KidsTek for playing a key role in helping her work toward her career goals. “KidsTek has provided me with so many wonderful opportunities,” Clara stated when speaking at SIM Tank, “I greatly appreciate having the chance to be here tonight and I am so excited to be contributing to the evolution of technology.”
Thanks to SIM Tank, the CTA,
ViaWest,
Swiftpage, and many other local organizations represented at the event, KidsTek will be able to continue to provide our technology education program to the highest needs schools in the greater Denver area.
“Thanks to everyone who participated in the SIM Tank event; for your support of KidsTek and the under-served youth of Colorado, says Liner, “Hopefully some of our students will become SIM members in the not too distant future, as IT professionals in Colorado!”
