KidsTek would like to welcome back Steve Kessler to our wonderful staff team! Steve started with KidsTek in August of 2006, and was hired to work with our class at that time at the Bridge Project program in Denver. Steve then went on to teach our programs in the COMPASS after school program in Aurora, at Aurora Central High School, at Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, Aurora Youth 4 Success teen summer program, and at Montbello High School.
Steve was able to work with every age group from elementary to high school at some point during his five and a half years as a KidsTek instructor. During this time, Steve taught everything from basic applications to Internet literacy, digital storytelling, video game design, Lego robotics, web design, job-hunting and interviewing skills, and computer networking elective classes for high school students. He has also worked as an adjunct instructor for the Community College of Aurora since 2006.
Since Steve’s return to our staff team as of this month, Steve has been teaching an introduction to computer networking at Hinkley High School in Aurora. His students will work toward earning IC3 certifications this fall, and Network+ certifications in the spring. The students also earn college credit during this class through the Community College of Aurora.
“My favorite part of working with students is watching them succeed, especially if they are questioning if they can do it,” Steve explains, “I try to pull the best out of my students and am always excited for them when they give their best in return.”
Steve earned his Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication with a minor in Philosophy from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Steve is the owner of a computer consulting company, Denver DataMan, that specializes in building websites that connect multiple systems and automated processes.
Steve loves to travel and has spent time studying abroad. When he’s not busy teaching for KidsTek or CCA, Steve loves spending his spare time with his fiancé and friends.
Welcome Steve! We’re so glad to have you on board again!
