Celebrate College Friday with KidsTek!

Join KidsTek in celebrating College Friday on April 17th.  Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has declared that that April 17, 2015 will be the 10th annual “College Friday,”, which is a day designated to raise awareness about the importance of higher education for Colorado’s youth.
KidsTek will be partnering with College in Colorado to support our students’ dreams of higher education and showing team spirit by wearing college gear to raise awareness. Everyone is invited to join!  As further incentive, participants wearing college gear on April 17th are eligible for a variety of freebies at local businesses:
  • Visit any participating Qdoba restaurant on College Friday and receive free chips and 2 oz. queso.
  • Visit any participating Cold Stone Creamery from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on College Friday for a $1 scoop of ice cream with one mix-in.
  • IKEA is offering a free ice cream cone or coffee on College Friday.

KidsTek also provides a college scholarship opportunity to all graduating seniors who completed our high school classes in 2014 or 2015. The KidsTek “Nancy J. Sauer Scholarship” awards $1,000 towards the first year of any accredited 2 or 4-year college, with the possibility of another $1,000 toward the second year of college if good grades are maintained during the freshman year.

When asked about their future plans, a current KidsTek junior said “I want to to go to CU Boulder or CU Denver because they offer so many different majors to choose from and I’m not quite sure exactly of what I want to do as a career.  I am excited for college because I will have the opportunity to meet new people from all over Colorado.”  One of our graduating seniors answered “I am hoping to attend UNC in Greeley, so I can be closer to my family. I am also applying for the KidsTek scholarship, which will help with some of the cost.  I hope I get it!”
