Each day, KidsTek staff work with students from across the Denver metro area. After these students graduate from high school, some of them stay in contact with us, and it brings us so much joy to hear from former students with life updates, successes and questions.
In 2018, Stephanie Mendez, a student from Florence Crittenton High School in Denver, enrolled in a KidsTek class during her senior year. Stephanie immediately impressed us with her drive, authenticity and interest in STEM as a career. Meghan Lang, Program Manager at KidsTek, said, “Stephanie is such a poised, hardworking, and introspective person, and I have really enjoyed getting to know her more through the years. Since her graduation from Florence Crittenton, she has always been such a joy to meet for coffee or just catch up via text. She really is such a kind person, and I am grateful to know her.”
Stephanie recently moved to Twentynine Palms, California where she lives with her husband and son. She is busy working from home doing remote data entry for a company called Red Rocks Roll Off Services in Colorado. Stephanie will be attending DeVry University to earn an Associate of Applied Science in their Information Technology & Networking program. She will be partially funded by a scholarship awarded from KidsTek.
Stephanie shared, “KidsTek has helped me with my communication and Microsoft skills with school. I was able to complete college credits at the Community College of Aurora and we had to use Word and Excel. Knowing how to use the tools made those classes easier and less stressful.”
KidsTek is proud to play a small role in helping Stephanie pursue her goals. Congrats on all your achievements, Stephanie!
